Slow the mental age process: learn a language
As we age, it is important to keep our brains active. One of the best ways to do this is to learn a new language, as constant mental exercise is required throughout the study and continued use of a language.
Research has shown that having the ability to speak two languages reduces your chances of developing dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. This research concurs with earlier findings which have shown that language learning enhances mental abilities in all ages. In particular it has been found that language study can improve your memory and slow age-related mental decline, making you a smarter and more critical thinker, while also stimulating creativity!
But is language learning more difficult as you get older? Research suggests NOT.
